For people who have benefitted from racial hierarchies (even unknowingly), anti-racism feels like loss at first. You lose your sense of innocence. You lose the luxury of unawareness. You might even lose relationships that depended on your silence. And most embarrassingly, you lose some sense of self.

It’s time to stop acting like injustice is abstract. It has names and it has voting records.

We are not safe for harmful ideas.
We are safe for the people who hold them. 

If you want your organization to be rooted in justice, dignity, and transformation, start with your team. Build it with people who carry the community in their bones—but also be prepared to walk with them in the process.

When systems wound our neighbors, when leaders weaponize power against the vulnerable, love cannot shrug its shoulders and call itself neutral. Love must see. Love must speak. Love must move.

Love votes and impacts policy.

I believe every policy should do the most good—and love doesn’t ask who deserves help, it asks how to help.
That’s the standard I’m holding myself to. That’s the standard I’m asking us to rise to.

Privilege is a complicated thing. For those of us who engage in restorative justice work, racial equity, or any form of systemic change, recognizing our own privilege can bring an unexpected emotional weight.

A lot of people talk about DEI as if it’s some new idea, but it’s not. It’s been at the core of God’s story from the beginning.

• Diversity is God’s design.

• Equity is God’s justice.

• Inclusion is the very heart of the gospel.

Desire paths remind us that the people we serve are co-creators of our work, not just recipients. When we let go of rigid assumptions and follow their lead, we create programs that are more relevant, effective, and impactful.

By being intentional about partnerships and funding sources, nonprofits are not just securing financial resources—they are reinforcing their commitment to integrity, ethical impact, and long-term change.

Kindness, when lived out with integrity and action, is one of the simplest yet most important tools for change.

The best leaders never stop serving. They don’t see service as a stepping stone to leadership but as the foundation of it.
